Insincerity versus true respect

  I hate phoniness. I hate being in an environment so filled with bullshit, that bowing to cliches is more important than honest respect for people as individuals.

Oh dear God, I hope it wasn't as fucked up as Holden Caulfield. But my own fault for using the word "phony", I suppose.

It's a fair cop. But in my own defence, I think the sales and marketing departments of an insurance company truly is a haven for phoniness, deceit, and bragging about one's yacht and wine collection. (The last bit added as the consultant popped in to say hello.)
