Facebook and Satanic Rites...
Nov. 1st, 2007 10:14 amLast night, I watched "The Satanic Rites of Dracula". I've seen it before, but wanted to put something Halloweeny on. Christopher Lee seems a little less fearsome than usual -- mainly it looks like he wants to kill his agent. It's funny that his female minions are all super-good-looking, but his male minions are these non-threatening bikers with cheesy mustaches and even cheesier sheep-skin vests. It was fun to see AbFab's Joanna Lumley though. And there was a 1970s Doctor Who vibe -- not surprising because writer Don Houghton also wrote Dr Who in the 1970s.
So, I was thinking about Facebook today as I reconnected with an old friend who I've known since I was 10. Looking at my Friends list is a bit like looking the paleontological fossil records in rock. I've friends from my early teens, friends from my early 20s, my mid-20s at journalism school, and friends that I see quite often these days. And very few have ever met each other. It's almost like my friendships divide into geological epochs.
