I'm actively looking for a new job, and so I've scrubbed my name off the blog. It's not so much a secret identity, as anyone visiting the blog can easily identify me. But hopefully it won't turn up on searches for my full name.

prolly to help, you shouldn't sign off with your given name. Maybe just stick with "Puck"

I think it's fairly safe because it's a pretty common rirst name. After all, I'm not protecting my identity from people who normally come across the blog -- one look at the references to my website will tell people who I am. It's to prevent any future (or current, for that matter) employers from doing a Google Blog search on my full name. Of course, they could search for references to my website, but that strikes me as pretty elaborate, and it's not like I'm going to say that much about work anyway.

Probably what I should do is not link to blogs of former employers where they can trace the link back to this blog and direct people here. And what I really, really should not do is direct people whose names begin with K to that other blog that now links back to my own blog.

Great plan ... wish I hadn't thought of it after the fact. Bye-bye, secret identity. (K. thinks it's Kafkaesque that's she's known by an initial. But I suspect I'll still end up paying for this.)

Then again, no one at MotherCorp is going to be bothered by what I say about them. My current employers -- they might have a bigger problem. It's not too bad when Batman and Wonder Woman know your secret identity. But best keep it safe from Lex Luthor, at least.
