This kind of thing just scares the crap out of me. Maybe not as much as pretty much any story on the environment, but still it makes me wonder if a few generations from now, the history books will call our democratic period "a failed experiment" saved by the actions of Bush and his cronies.

I have to confess that I only skimmed the article, but what I did take in was pretty frightening. I sincerely hope the bill isn't passed, though I'm not feeling terribly optimistic. :-(
