Apr. 27th, 2006 11:15 amOkay, I'm not a goth. Or a Pagan. But well, my skin is pale, I do like black trenchcoats, and I've got a lot of friends who are goths and/or Pagans.
And I'm sure with my love of genre fiction, I fall into some kind of outsider group. After all, comic books are often considered to be a threat to peace, order and good government.
That's why this kind of story annoys me:

When a blue-jeans wearing Christian kills people, there aren't articles about how dangerous denim is or how death-like Christianity is. And for all the "thou shalt not kill" and "turn the other cheek" moments in the Bible, there is also a lot of God-sanctioned killing in that religion.
Of course, if the people who are looking strangely at goths today got to know them, they'd discover that counter cultures are generally as bland and boring as mainstream culture.
